What Keeps you Sane

What keeps you sane?
When your plans are failing,
And dreams are collapsing,
When your mistakes are monumental

What keeps you sane,
Are your attempts, at being better,
You’re small actions of little consequence,
You’re intentions despite your shortcomings

What keeps you sane?
When you have to give up despite your best efforts,
When confronted by your irredeemable flaws,
When you must move on, but you know not where

What keeps you sane,
Are justifications you give yourself at four in the morning,
Are the tiny steps you take despite being lost,
What keeps you sane is the art that speaks to your heart.

    1. That’s true, Athira… but unfortunately, we cannot control our situations all of the time… so how do we stay sane regardless of them? That’s what Sagar has left me thinking about… πŸ€”

β€œThe longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life… The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…”

  1. As with all of us, I have two sets of inner voices (like the angel and devil). One always sees the negative side of every situation, the other is the one that helps me stay afloat during life’s problematic situations, the positive one! Most of the times, my inner motivating positive self talk keeps me sane. It reasons with the negative one and lights the path of my journey in life.

    1. Haha yeah. Even I have a inner self that criticizes me. I think it is the positive things I do in hard times that keeps me sane.
Also I completely missed this comment, sorry for that πŸ˜›
